Meghan, my mom and I flew down Friday morning to Orange County and then drove to Huntington for a few hours. That is our favorite place ever. Then we drove down to Temecula to meet up with the rest of our family, the Clarks and the McCourts. We went to dinner that night then went to bed fast to get well rested for the next day!!
The Tatom clan before the race.
We woke up around 7:30 to get breakfast and get all ready. Then it was time for the main event. THE TOUGH MUDDER. We drove out to Vail Lake where the course was set up. Basically it is 11 miles and 24 mud (military style) obstacles spread out throughout the course. The worst obstacles were probably the ICE BATH and the ELECTRIC SHOCK at the end. The ice bath is basically a dunk tank filled with ice and green gloop. It was paralyzing! I could barely get out. Then at the very end you have to run through about 30 feet of little yellow wires hanging down and jump over hay bails at the same time. I thought I was going to have a heart attack about 5 times!! I fell into the mud at the very end and started to cry from the shock! All in all, it was such a fun weekend. It was fun to be reunited with my favorite family & friends that I haven't seen in awhile. It was super hard but it was all about team work and helping each other more than course time. It was also nice to have a weekend away in beautiful California!!! But we had to come back at some point I suppose. Next year's firm retreat will definitely be relaxing on a beach somewhere though!!!
The girls after completing the race!!
My buddies Jared & Hunter. Freezing waiting for the shuttle back to our cars!
It was such a fun/exhausting/long weekend and I am so glad we conquered the TOUGH MUDDER!!!
