Tough Mudder 2012

This weekend was my dad's law firm retreat in Temecula, CA.  It was one of the hardest but the most fun thing ever!! My dad started on Thursday night by going to St. George for work for ServPro and he got sick! He had the stomach flu so bad that he missed the whole weekend.  We were so sad for him!!!

Meghan, my mom and I flew down Friday morning to Orange County and then drove to Huntington for a few hours.  That is our favorite place ever.  Then we drove down to Temecula to meet up with the rest of our family, the Clarks and the McCourts.  We went to dinner that night then went to bed fast to get well rested for the next day!!

The Tatom clan before the race.

We woke up around 7:30 to get breakfast and get all ready.  Then it was time for the main event. THE TOUGH MUDDER.  We drove out to Vail Lake where the course was set up.  Basically it is 11 miles and 24 mud (military style) obstacles spread out throughout the course.  The worst obstacles were probably the ICE BATH and the ELECTRIC SHOCK at the end. The ice bath is basically a dunk tank filled with ice and green gloop.  It was paralyzing! I could barely get out.  Then at the very end you have to run through about 30 feet of little yellow wires hanging down and jump over hay bails at the same time.  I thought I was going to have a heart attack about 5 times!! I fell into the mud at the very end and started to cry from the shock! All in all, it was such a fun weekend.  It was fun to be reunited with my favorite family & friends that I haven't seen in awhile.  It was super hard but it was all about team work and helping each other more than course time.  It was also nice to have a weekend away in beautiful California!!! But we had to come back at some point I suppose.  Next year's firm retreat will definitely be relaxing on a beach somewhere though!!!

The girls after completing the race!!

My buddies Jared & Hunter.  Freezing waiting for the shuttle back to our cars!

It was such a fun/exhausting/long weekend and I am so glad we conquered the TOUGH MUDDER!!!

day of love.

So....I have a post in the works from my fabulous Vegas trip last weekend, but that is for later this week!! For now I will leave you with this funny picture.

Hahahahaha.  Hope you think this is as funny as I do. I left my parents and sister some cream soda, truffles and sweettarts.  And a note that says "Happy Valentine's Day my precious fatties." I sure do love my family. Happy Day of Love!!

72 hour kits.

My senior year my mom decided that we needed new 72 hour kits.  So for Family Home Evening on a glorious monday night, we made the trek to walmart to shop for these bad boys. It was a blast.  We bought gushers and granola bars and crackers and tons of other non perishable items of course!! Then we went home, bagged all the items in their category, added a first aid kit and put them in our own individual duffle bags.  (We really live on the edge over here at the Tatom household.)

So a few months pass and one day after school I am looking for a snack.  I was in the pantry and saw all these duffle bags sitting on the top shelf.  Then one thought crossed my mind: GUSHERS.  Those tooty fruity treats that just melt in your mouth deliciously were in that bag! Just one step away!! I was in heaven.  Because naturally if you know me, you know I love food.  This is how much. (And yes I realize this is a terribly embarassing picture but it is on Facebook already so what the hey!)

SO you get the picture? Don't mess with me & my food. Haha.

ANYWAY... Back to the story.

I saw the gushers, I took them, I ate them and I LOVED every second of it.  Then I proceeded to eat gushers and pop tarts everyday til they were gone. Then I went to college and my mom kept my wonderful kit.  I just went into the basement to find a suitcase and I found my kit!! I was so delighted that I opened it.  Then I realized, the only things left are mandarin oranges, 2 capri suns, and a few dried nutty granola bars.  Needless to say, if there is ever a catastrophe, don't expect me to survive.

SLC.

I don't know when or why this came about, but I have a slight obsession with Salt Lake City.  I don't even think I want to live here my whole life, but I just LOVE Salt Lake.  The skyline is probably my favorite.  Especially when you can look down from my house and see it all lit up pretty at night.  Maybe it reminds me of Vegas, who knows.

Also, I love going to school everyday and looking out the window in my classes and seeing THIS.  It is so nice to look at don't ya think?? I love it.  I would say I am definitely enjoying my time in SLC.

BFF lovin.

THIS is my best friend. Daryn Kaye. I love her to death.  This picture was taken when I went to Logan last summer for a whole week! We went floating down the river & it was sooo fun.  The thing is, we don't really have to do anything to have fun together. We are just weird.  We go to DI and buy couches together.  And then we sit on the dirty couch and talk about pointless crap.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.

When I went to Logan in November of 2010.  We had a little photo shoot.  This is now one of my faves.

Fall Break 2010.  DD came to one of my volleyball games. Such a cutie best friend.

This was taken in line for the Big Shot at the Stratosphere the night before she left for Utah State. D is a year older than me so I had to go through senior year without her! (JK, I made plenty of visits and I got by somehow!)

When DD got her brand new lovely MAC laptop, we took fun pictures!!

Last day of school my sopohomore, her junior year.  Basically the beginning of the BEST of times!!!

I would say DD and I are in the same situation right now...we have a best friend, but we don't live in the same place.  Neither of us have a "best friend", a wingman, our go to girl that lives in the same town as us anymore.  I am working on it, I would imagine she probably is too.  But I sure am glad that I have her in my life to send all my pointless and funny texts to about my life. And of course our bi-monthly visits. Living in Quincy, I didn't see her for about 6 months.  But now I see her all the time and I LOVE it!!! Who knows, maybe I will end up changing my mind and joining her at USU in the fall?? :)

Sick Sunday

This is what I feel like today. Tummy hurting. Headache. Just wanna lay down all day long. But it IS the superbowl which means there WILL be good food.  Which doesn't solve the tummy problem. P.S. I don't even care about the super bowl I just love the food.
